The Critter Cam

July 19, 2010 Update: Unfortunately, mother nature dealt us a small blow and lightning has damaged the Critter Cam. Fortunately all of the critters are safe, but the Critter Cam will be on hiatus until we can get it back up and running. We appreciate your patience and thank you for your support!
On June 11, 2010, we were proud to announce the unveiling of our new "Critter Cam" -- thanks to a gracious donation of a BIPRO-S600VF12 outdoor camera by CCTV Camera Pros in Boynton Beach, Florida, we are able to provide a 24-hour live stream of our animals. You may have spotted a small version of the Critter Cam on the front page, but you can see a larger version on our uStream page. You can also see the live chat and, if you sign up (it's free!), you can participate in the chat!
Our camera is currently in the fox enclosure. The foxes are most active from feeding time (8pm ET) through 7am-9am the following morning. Going forward, we hope to either move the camera or add additional cameras to feature the other animals.
Due to some technical difficulties regarding weather, we will not be broadcasting after dark. We are hoping to have all of the kinks worked out the 15th-17th of June and be broadcasting 24 hours a day.

About Ohio Nature Education

Ohio Nature Education is a private non-profit volunteer organization which provides a home for wild animals that can no longer live in the wild. We incorporate these animals into environmental education programs for people of all ages. Our customers include schools, Scout troops, garden clubs, senior centers, metro parks, and community centers. Our programs feature many visuals such as study skins and pelts and interaction with our audience. We utilize different formats and can custom design for groups of virtually any size and age range.
We are excited to be working with the Ohio Division of Wildlife with their Becoming an Outdoors Woman program. This workshop gives women a chance to experience or improve their skills in various outdoor activities and build camraderie with others. For more information on this program, please visit their site.

Our Mission

We are committed to creating an awareness of and appreciation for Ohio's natural habitat and wildlife by offering informative and entertaining education opportunities. Our hope is to instill in each person we meet a sense of conservation and stewardship for our natural world.
Ohio Nature Education provides homes for more than thirty five permanently injured or non-releasable animals that were facing euthanization. We incorporate these animals into our environmental education programs to people of all ages.

Current Message

We hope that you are enjoying Ohio Nature Education on Facebook and you're following our live fox cam on uStream. Check our calendar to the left and on the Programs page to see where we will be this summer. We are currently accepting donations to expand the fox enclosure and replace the existing roof. Please consider making a tax deductible donation by using the donate now button on the top of each page.
